You’ll cover the theory and practice of strategic luxury brand management and luxury brand design and creativity over two modules – Principles of Luxury Brand Management and Marketing, and Strategic Luxury Brand Management.

In semester one you’ll also take Historical and Contemporary Issues in Luxury. In semester two you’ll have the opportunity to tailor the course to your interests and complement your industry-specific studies by choosing an optional module.

A unique feature of the course is the opportunity to take part in two week-long study trips to London and Paris. In the second semester you’ll have an invaluable opportunity to work with a luxury brand on a live consultancy project.

This is a one-year, full-time masters degree course. You’ll complete taught modules, followed by a period of study for your final project.

In semester one you’ll take a module covering key issues and trends in today’s fashion industry, gaining an overview of contemporary developments and emerging markets. This provides a context for your studies, and is particularly useful for students without a fashion background.

There are two Fashion Management and Marketing modules across the two semesters. The first covers different aspects of fashion consumer behaviour, including consumer psychology, sociology and cultural influences. It will also teach you about fashion branding strategies, from building start-up brands to the management of brand architecture for more established brands.

This is a one-year, full-time course. You’ll study a number of taught modules during the first two semesters; in semester three you’ll undertake independent study for your final project.

Fashion Management modules in semester one and two will introduce you to the core topics and practices involved in the strategic management of a fashion business. You’ll cover areas such as consumer behaviour, creative brand building and development, trend forecasting, supply chain management, product sourcing and development, integrated marketing communications, corporate social responsibility, sustainability and digital culture. In semester two you’ll consolidate your learning and be encouraged to think critically about fashion industry issues. Working in groups, you’ll examine case studies with a focus on topics such as sustainability and strategic brand growth, to apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios.

Your studies will be based at Parkside and Curzon at the City Centre Campus. In the second term you will build on your knowledge of Global Business Strategies and continue to enhance your industry skills in the Global Fashion Brand Marketing module. This will also be supported with modules in Project Management and Research & Professional Skills, letting you practise making research proposals and designing pilot studies for industry related projects.

Your last term of studies will concentrate on a Major Project module that will examine a contemporary management issue that currently affects the Global Fashion Industry. This is a self-directed project that you can design to focus on aspects of the Fashion Industry that you are most interested in.
